It is a cultural practice that many have described as outdated and inhumane. Female genital mutilation however continues to thrive, despite being formally outlawed. NTVs Irene Choge was in Merti, in the County of Isiolo, where she interacted with members of the Borana community, who still practice the female cut. She now reports on its effects on young girls and women in the community.
