Science journalists recognized Internews in Kenya for its contribution in training and mentoring science journalists to tell better stories.

“To be recognized by an all African organization is a huge honor for Internews in Kenya. We strive to make a difference in the way science is reported – It should be clear and accurate and it should have a human face. Thanks to the Internews team for making us proud,” said Internews Country Director Ida Jooste, when she accepted the award at the 2012 Africa Science Journalism Conference.

The conference, held in Nakuru between 21-23 August, brought together about 150 science journalists, communicators and scientists from across Africa and other parts of the world to explore ways on how to best tell the African science story.

The three-day meeting was organized by Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (MESHA) in partnership with Internews and other organizations working in science and development.
